Fishing with Method Feeder and Pellet Feeder

Fishing with Method Feeder and Pellet Feeder

Fishing with Method Feeder and Pellet Feeder mainly targets beautiful specimens of cyprinidae (large carp, large tench, barbels, etc...) but the hazards of fishing make it possible to catch also beautiful guardians, beautiful bream and other smaller carassins.

The principle of fishing with Method Feeder and Pellet Feeder

The principle is very similar to cage fishing, the rare differences are the use of a Method Feeder or a Pellet Feeder instead of a Cage Feeder, a specific Method Feeder primer or pellets according to the choice of the Method Feeder or Pellet Feeder technique, a very short leader, the use of inert baits in most cases (pellets, mini-pellets, seeds, etc.).), the use of live bait is not recommended because it can break the bait ball during the throw, but it is still possible to use live bait with some Method Feeder and the use of a small accessory.

The necessary equipment

Bait
Since this technique is derived from Quiver-Tip fishing, generally a good and powerful Feeder / Quiver-Tip rod is a good choice, for a search for very nice catches the use of a small carp rod with a power of about 2.5lb is also possible, for example a small carp rod stalking.
Rod
The use of a progressive action rod is generally a good asset, the progressive action will allow the rod to absorb the shocks of the various assaults of your catches. The tip on this fishing technique is rather useless, as said just above the starts are often violent, if you use a Feeder / Quiver-Tip rod, put a strong tip directly on your rod do not bother with a tip less than 1Oz. Regarding the length of the rod, a 3.60m / 12ft is generally a suitable choice that allows you to manage fishing distances up to 50m without too many problems.
Reel
The use of a good reel is essential for fishing with the Method Feeder or the Pellet Feeder, since one generally catches very beautiful fish, the reel must be robust with a precise and powerful brake, the baitrunner, disengageable or freespool option is not essential but nevertheless recommended knowing that according to the fishing areas the disengagement system will be activated in a less crowded area or not activated in congested areas; reels designed for feeder fishing are generally very suitable, carp reels in small sizes are also very suitable.
Line
The nylon for the line body will be of very good quality and strength, we can also use braid keeping in mind that the braid has its limits and that the strength of the braid can make your beautiful rod made of small wood for the barbecue; Depending on the population and the size of your fishing grounds, the size of nylon will range from 20% for medium-sized fish in unencumbered areas to 35% or more in encumbered areas with a possibility of making carp of 20kg and more (wild rivers, encumbered canals for example).
For the leader, which for me is the weak link in this technique, it must be very strong but must give way before the body of the line under penalty of losing all its assembly, for fishing with the Method Feeder and the Pellet Feeder, the leader is very short 15cm at most, generally we use leaders from 8 to 10cm, so you need to have a nylon or braid that is able to resist the power of the holds looking for a very short length, many use braid as a leader in this technique, it is not a bad choice, I still prefer to use strong nylons that offer a slight flexibility that braid does not offer.

The hooks will be strong iron hooks with an irreproachable spiciness, the hooks designed for carp fishing are very suitable, those designed for feeder fishing are also very suitable; if you find hooks that suit you made in small stock, breaks will be quite frequent in your early days or in places you do not know.

A wide opening landing net is mandatory, you will have less trouble getting out your catch, which will be of good size. Catches that are at least 50cm long are regular when fishing with the Method Feeder or the Pellet Feeder.
