Tips on material to catch bass with jig

This article will guide you on the equipment necessary for jig fishing for bass.

Rod

In order to properly animate the jig, it is important to have a rather short and rigid rod. The size will therefore vary between 1.90m and 2.30m (for a variable weight between 10-30g and 30-80g). Note that jigs are quite heavy lures, it is imperative to have a strong enough rod.
You can choose the Penn Squadron Labrax 702 & 802, equipped with a nervous blank created to increase their performance when fishing or casting. They will be able to deal with all situations encountered at sea. The Gunki Kairo should please fishermen who spend a good part of their fishing time at sea, hunting bass and other predatory species. The blank of these rods has been developed by integrating the latest developments in terms of carbon slick.
In the top range, there will be the FB72MH Ioda brand rods, for versatile use with a HM Carbon blank, an off-set press-fit, and Fuji K anti-tangle rings, among others. Finally, Italcanna Jigging, a new product designed for jig fishing, with a powerful structure made of high-strength carbon allowing it to resist powerful forces.

Reel

The reels are also put to the test during the animation of the jig. It is therefore necessary to choose a robust and high quality sea reel (3000 or 4000). It must be able to contain a hundred meters of braid as well as a fluorocarbon backing.
Then here are 3 ranges of the Daiwa brand that would be suitable for this fishing: First the Black Gold BG, frame and rotor in aluminum alloy treated (marine anti-corrosion) and equipped with a progressive front brake, and three stainless steel bearings among others.
The second range is the Oceano, with reels with a refined and robust mechanics that are suitable for all medium-strength fishing such as fishing to support, jigging or medium vertical sea fishing (Jig, Fire ball). We finish with the Vadel in the top range, built in aluminum and protected from water and impurities thanks to Daiwa Mag Sealed oil (positioned between the rotor and the axis of the reel to fluidify the movement of these master parts).

Line

As for the braid, you will choose it according to the weight of the jigs, we nevertheless advise you to use a line between 13 and 15 hundredths. The fluorocarbon leader should be of good quality and about 40 hundredths.

Braids:

We recommend Sufix's Matrix Pro Weed range and Power Pro's Super 8 Slick; resistant and precise.

Fluorocarbon:

For fluorocarbon leaderboards, you can choose from Daiwa's Tournament range, and Powerline's Special Fluorocarbon Powerline leaderboards, which are of very good quality, resistant and invisible underwater.
