Pollack Fishing with soft lure

Pollack Fishing with soft lure

Fishing with soft lures is one of the most common fishing techniques used to catch Pollack in a variety of conditions and locations.

In vertical position

Many fish Pollack strictly vertically on drifting wrecks, a technique that provides very satisfactory results and allows in addition to hunting a maximum surface area on the bottom, while still keeping a great comfort in fishing. To carry out this technique, you will have to lower your lure to the bottom, then launch it between 1 and 3 meters to finally stabilize it (you can then pass it over the wreck or the bottom) for drift. You have two choices. You can initially let the current do its work so that it alone animates your lure; or you can animate your lure yourself by moving the tip of your rod, while giving slow up and down movements (an inherent practice of vertical fishing), which will animate the lure. You will have to be on the lookout, ready to feel the slightest touch (indeed the latter can be very discreet or very frank), and avoid any big movements to animate your lure, it could make you miss a touch or a shoe.

Other animations

Other techniques with a flexible lure can of course be applied, such as traction, which consists in throwing your lure to let it sink to the bottom and thus make large, wide and continuous pulls (alternating with a few turns of the reel) and let it evolve in the current (always staying close to the bottom). This technique is best applied in the presence of rocky plateaus and rock heads (these bottoms allow current acceleration where fish feed.
Another technique, the elevator or landing fishing, is used on wrecks to search for yellow places. This well-known technique creates a leakage effect from the lure to the surface, which tends to irritate the carnivorous fish, which will try to regain (violently) the bottom; it will be necessary to let the lure go to the bottom and move it up (vertically) by taking breaks.
The animation you choose will have an influence on the results of your fishing, remember to adapt it to the situations.

Material

Rod:
Rods from 2m to 2.40m with a power of 20 to 80 grams can be used to fish the area with a soft lure.
Reel:
You can opt for a 4000/5000 reel
soft lures:
Many lures can be used for this fishing, here are some of them: The Shad Gt (between 13 and 18cm), the Sandra (between 12 and 16cm), the DJ Line in 14cm, and the Shadka II in 14cm. For very calm sea fishing, the 15cm Fury Shad will do the trick.
Mounting
A 150-meter braid made of PE 1.2 or PE 1.5 and a fluorocarbon 40 (at least 50/100th) will be useful to stop the largest fish.
As for the size of the leaded heads, it will be modified according to the depth, the current and of course the wind. In the same day, do not hesitate to fish with a 60-gram jig head and to change to a 130-gram jig head if fishing conditions fluctuate.
